Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I suggest that only Pundy is able to open new threads in this forum. As it stands it's turning into Tangency. We don't need a general off topic forum and not having a forum dedicated to bitching about rpg.net won't kill us.

This is a gaming site. The way Pundy's forum is currently working is diluting that. Let's get back to the site's actual purpose. If people have nothing to say outside the non-rpg fora, fuck'em.
I roll to disbelieve.

I agree, but it's up to RPGPundit.

Agreed.

Sorry, but I like the idea of my forum being a place where people can post threads, as long as they fit the description: ie. it either has to be about me, or about topics that interest me.

Seriously, I don't think this is the big deal some are making it out to be.  You don't have to read the forum if you don't like it, or not read threads I don't make if you do like it but only when I post there.

Shit, there are subforums here I almost never look at.  If I can avoid looking at some of the subforums on my own site, surely others can avoid looking at those forums that aren't appealing to them...

I disagree with D-503 and agree with the Pundit, I don't see a problem with the posts on the RPGPundit's forum, even if sometimes it's about politics or religion. In my opinion, it doesn't dilute the purpose of the forum, talking about RPGs, at all.

On the other hand, I think there must be zero tolerance with post about politics, religion and such (you know, off-topic) on the RPG subforum, unless they are really relevant. Which, if I'm not mistaken, is the current policy of the forum.

Of course, it's up to the Pundit, the owner of the forum, but I wanted to point out that not everybody is against the current use of the RPGPundit's forum.

Oh damn it, can't a man have a biscuit?

And by biscuit I mean a rant.

One man's tangency is another's bread and butter. As some one who is pretty much nonplussed by the majority of the threads in the RPG sections-there are few that actually discussing game, and many that discuss some BS industry bickering or gamer geek backstabbing-I'm good with simply not participating in the threads I find boring, or otherwise not worthy of my free time investment.

Or simply "If you don't like it, don't read it."

Unless it's TBPs TGcy, or what I will get to make jokes about when people rant about it?

Funny, that's what they said on rpg.net when I said I thought Tangency was a bad idea. Pundy's reply too reminded me strongly of the mod response on rpg.net to criticisms of Tangency, back when those were allowed.

Anyway, clearly Pundy differs and it's his site. So it goes.
I roll to disbelieve.

So now not only we have people who post only in local version of Tangency, but people who only post about posting in local version of Tangency.

Who were you thinking of? Not me I hope.

If I found myself posting more non-gaming comments than gaming ones I'd stop coming here. Today I commented once here, since it's my thread and it seemed polite, then talked a bit about Pendragon in a couple of threads and posted to the thread about stuff it would be nice to see mainstream.

It's not necessarily that simple. E.g. if a case could be made that the discussion culture that's currently brewing in RpgSite-Tangency seeps over to the RPGSite's discussion on gaming, that's a reason to be a bit more alarmed about what's going on.

I'm not that serene that a thing that brought down RPG.net will never happen at this site, just because people shout "We're Mos Eisley" or whatever. Naivety and self-delusion, if you ask me.

At the same time, it's way too early to call, and I don't want to sound more alarmist than I actually am. I just don't share Werekoala's take on it, that's all, and I think the OP is definitely onto something.

Edit. As an alternative, it'd be great to have the option to have RpgPundit's forum on ignore when clicking to see which threads are new. That'd be really helpful.

The irony is some people are offended by RPGNet threads, so they think no one should be allowed to have them. What forum does that remind me of?
