This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Sticky proposal

I'd like to propose a sticky thread or sticky threads in the general RPG forum for books, movies or TV shows that are good sources for rpg inspiration.

It could be one sticky, or up to 3 for book, TV and movies, or maybe one for books and one for tv and movies, it doesn't matter that much.

I do think a sticky on good source material that isn't specifically game material wouldn't be bad. As for books I'd enter the honor harringon series, the hammer's slammers series and a book called "The eternity artifact" for starters.

To be honest, I really don't think we need this.  I'd rather not cover up the first half of the front page with stickied threads, not when we can just keep posting seperate threads about these things.

Stickied threads are highly annoying, and should only be used when absolutely necessary, and the kind of stickied thread you're suggesting seems to me like it would replace VARIOUS regular threads, which I don't consider a very good trade-off. I'd rather have 5 threads on slightly different variations of a topic than just 1 thread supposedly about all of those topics but where in practice only one is ever talked about at a time.

Ok, good point, I don't want the pages half covered with stickies like the purple pisspot is.

A subforum dedicated to game inspiring media might be an alternative but I'm not sure you want more fourms.

RPGPundit

No, I really don't. I'd rather have one forum that's very full, than four that are less than a quarter full.

Mind you, if it gets to the point where the active threads take up the entire front page or more, then I might want to do some diverting. But not right now, where often we get threads that are 2 days old without posting on the front page, so diverting is no great priority.

Also, the best way to get a thread stickied is to start it up and make it thrive. If it's so popular that it stays on top for weeks, gets referenced to in other threads, and generally makes itself an indispensible tool, odds are it may get stickied without asking. If it doesn't do any of those things, it's not good enough to ride the top of the wave anyway.

Sticky Proposal sounds absolutely filthy and I'm stealing it for a plot for a porn film.

Like indecent proposal, but with bukkake.

Hey, whatever 3 to 5 people enjoy and then they stay friends afterwards - sounds good to me.
Could almost say that about roleplaying games too.

Ok, first of all Nox, he has you on IGNORE. He can't even see your witty comments.

Second, stop with them. If a post is going to say fuck all as far as anything productive, please avoid posting it.

Finally, Koltar, like anyone else, can post on any thread he likes, anywhere he likes; as long as his post is on-topic, unlike far too many of yours.

Let it be noted, once more, for the record, that I'm being patient in the extreme with Nox. That patience will come to an end, should he fail to get the hint, and continue this disruptive behaviour.
