Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Did you know that a news site isn't very useful without news? Do you also know that newshounds will be rewarded with larger avatars, custom user titles and other goodies? Did you know the best newshounds may even gain all the abilities of a 20th level user in far fewer posts - so long as they continue to contribute some news?

Finally did you know this provides an alternate route to gaining stuff beyond postcount alone?

Do you know how to post a scoop?  Vin Diesel told me you go to the news page and click "Submit a scoop." If he can figure it out, it can't be that hard.

I'm still not sure how much news, and of what type, you'd like to have. It would benefit all of us to know how much off-topic news (non-rpg) you're really interested in seeing up front.

Think of the other stuff that most of us are into.  Those are the news stories that we want.  The more that we have the better.  Especially since each users news page with eventually be configurable.

I know, but then again, we're a pretty diverse crowd, and we're into a bunch of things. despite how many of us are really into MMO's, it wouldn't be fun to clutter up that page with tons of MMO development news. same goes for movies, music, regular literature, etc...

Hit submit a scoop and look at the category list - I would personally consider that to be a really strong hint as to what's being looked for.

I gets cluttered up with with whatever it gets cluttered up with. Eventually users will have the ability to decide what news they see from the available news - so don't worry about that at all please.

If I find something interresting I will submit it. Expect to see TF news eventually.

Pooka, when we submit a news story with today's date or an earlier date than today, how long does it take to show up on the news page?

All news stories submitted need to be approved before before they go to the front page.  As to dating the story here's a quote from Pooka.

QuoteWhen they go up everyone has the ability, and everyone is encouraged to, post news. They'll be a link visible on the news page to do so. When you post an item check off all the categories you feel are appropriate to your news. You must choose at least one news category or the news will not display. You also need to pick a date that the news will be announced - if any publisher wants to use our system to make a timed announcement then that's what this is for. If you con't specify a date the system puts your post into tomorrow's queue of items to display. It is possible to post news up to 2 days prior to today, but beyond that the computer will assume you mean next YEAR, so be careful - if you try to make a post show up on February 1st for example it will be posted in the queue for February 1st 2007.

That's what I suspected...  Thanks, Troll.
