SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

MODERATION NOTICE: "bat-slap" and other imagefloods no longer allowed

My user name admittedly turned out wider than I expected, but I don't think I can change that so easily. I'd be willing to do so if it's disruptive. :o

It's annoying for guys picky for these kinds of things. I fully admit I am. But nah, I just saw the irony in your post about the dimensions, and couldn't resist pointing it out. Sorry about that mate. :D

Well, fortunately my wide user name doesn't make it necessary to scroll to the right to be able to completely read posts. Pictures that are too big do. Plus, the dimensions of a posted pic are easier to fix. ;)

Good points. Let me put it this way: if I have to choose between the two, I'm on your side. I fix the pictures dimensions first because it is oh-so-fucking annoying. If I had my way though, I would fix both!

Bleah.
If you can't afford the bandwidth, say so.
If you're pissed off watching a DC hero used in humorous images, say so.
If you're just sick of fucking looking at it, say so, it's your site.

Claiming that people use the "batslap" or any other humorous image in a deliberate attempt at stifling conversation is just silly.

Well, like I said, I'd fix my user name if I could. I've used it on other forums but it never turned out this big. :o Oh well.

Quote from: RPGPundit;435330The fucking wave of people posting images of batman slapping robin, and a few others of similar sort, have led me to have to make a ruling on this.

You see, if its a bullshit thread, with no real purpose, and people post page after page of this:

Then in and of itself it does no harm other than to take up a great deal of our bandwith for no purpose.

But what I've noticed now is people taking SERIOUS threads, and starting to post these kinds of image floods as an attempt to derail the thread into farce rather than address the points of the thread.  I suspect that a few of the individuals who have been most egregious in this posting are doing so with the full knowledge that posting these images (which are always pointless, repetitive, and not even funny) will help to reduce the signal-to-noise ratio of a thread and thus help to kill a subject they don't care about or for.

As of NOW, this is stopping.  Anyone who posts this bullshit in a way that I feel is disruptive will be banned.

Is this rule still in force?

Because the amount of threads being derailed with content-free posts with nothing but some pointless image of an internet meme or blind link to a pointless youtube clip are definitely on the rise.

Yes, it is still in force. If you think that there are threads where this is happening in particular, please link to them here, and I'll take a look (or one of the other mods will).
