This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Designers/Publishers, and links

In a recent thread on the ENnie results, Jason (Morningstar) comments on the results, and then mentioned that one of his own games was given a nod, providing a link to the game in the process. The link was subsequently deleted by One Horse Town and there was a little but of debate over this admin action.

As a designer and publisher, it would be good to have some clarity on this issue. When is it appropriate to provide links to games you have written/published/have a hand in?

For example:

If someone specifically asks about my game, is it ok to link to it?
If it is in a thread about a newsworthy item and my game forms a part of that newsworthy item, is it ok to link to it?
If there is a thread about, say, a particular genre and people are looking for games that fall within that genre, is it ok to link?

It would be great to know exactly where I (and, by obvious extension, all the other writers and publishers on this forum) stand.

Cheers

Yeah, in hindsight it was a silly thing to do. It was on topic for the thread etc. So sorry Jason.

I'd say yes to all your questions.

If it's on topic go nuts, otherwise think twice! :)

Great, thanks for the clarification!
