Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

And I do but not at $30 a month (and the other concerns I raised). Sorry. You have at least two people (Clash and Brett) who are willing at that price so you cannot be too far off. In the end, you have a strange idea of customer service. You will note in the thread I linked, I stated my price a long time ago and have been up front with my concerns and conditions here.

So, good luck with your venture.

I'm more than a little dubious about your sincerity about ever having really wanted to be a customer. Its not about customer service, its about you. This is yet another of your endless attempts to try to kill the site with a thousand cuts. You try to start out from a position of interest ONLY as an "in" to be able to try to to subvert the entire project.

Step 1. "Oh yes I'd love to advertise here if RPGPundit would only allow it"
Step 2. "Hmm yes, but (insert all kinds of nonsense, fantasy scenarios, pretending not to know how the significance of the site or what he'd be getting, and niggling about the price)"
Step 3. "RPGPundit is totally unreasonable and its not worth advertising here! (I was never going to in the first place, of course, but this way I get a bunch of really critical posts in there and try to sink the whole project, hehehee)".

Go fuck off back to your sad little site.

Quote from: RPGPundit;306362I'm more than a little dubious about your sincerity about ever having really wanted to be a customer.
Yes, it is. It is about understanding what I am buying. As I said in the other thread, I have better charities to give to than the "RPGPundit Fund". When I asked questions that anyone else should have asked, I am attacked by you. Clever really. It means you do not have to explain what you are selling, why people should buy it, or even the basic information about it. It would be like selling a book based on its cover. Sure, some folks do that. I happen to be the one who likes to look through it, read a review or two, see if it interests me or meets my needs.
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362Its not about customer service, its about you.
No, it is about customer service.

1. I asked about the traffic on the site.
2. I asked about pricing.
3. I stated an opinion, that others share, about the price point.

Now, as part of explaining to a potential customer why he should buy your service, you invoke:
1. If you like me.
2. If you like this site.
3. Because you know what this site is about.

Seriously, do you make your business based on this kind of criteria?
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362This is yet another of your endless attempts to try to kill the site with a thousand cuts.
Are you setting me up to be banned for "Disrupting the Site"? Really? Because I asked about traffic for a banner ad and thought, as others did, that it is over priced.
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362You try to start out from a position of interest ONLY as an "in" to be able to try to to subvert the entire project.

I start from a position of reason, of business. You offered a service based on no information. Essentially, your proposal for this project is based on "Buy this service because yo like the pundit and I need money". Sorry, I prefer facts and reason. Brett gave us one little piece. You have given us nothing.
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362Step 1. "Oh yes I'd love to advertise here if RPGPundit would only allow it"
I wanted to advertise here 2 years ago. I quoted a price then. I was told I was trying to "buy the site".
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362Step 2. "Hmm yes, but (insert all kinds of nonsense, fantasy scenarios, pretending not to know how the significance of the site or what he'd be getting, and niggling about the price)"
Again, you cannot present any type of rational argument. You degenerate to ad hominem.

As to "niggling" over the price? You have offered this scenario.
1. I would like to buy some bread for $2 a loaf.
2. No! We are nto a coporate owned site!!!
3. O.k.
....2 years....
4. I need money. Pay me bitches! If you ask me about anything I will question your loyalty to the state!!! Oh, a pay $10 for that loaf of bread, and that is per person. So, if I sell to 10 people Yeah for me!
5. hmm, seems a bit steep. Great if you are th eonly one who wants bread...
6. Disrupter of the site!!!!!!

Please note, I have never said I want to "Destroy this site". Pundit cannot say the same about the Haven.
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362Step 3. "RPGPundit is totally unreasonable and its not worth advertising here! (I was never going to in the first place, of course, but this way I get a bunch of really critical posts in there and try to sink the whole project, hehehee)".
Odd, I have said it was worth advertising at this site, just not at the price or the format you are offering.

You know, you really should try facts every once in a while.
Quote from: RPGPundit;306362Go fuck off back to your sad little site.

This whole screed, all your posts in this thread, have nothing to do with explaining the worth of your advertising. You prefer to attack anyone who questions your plan. Heck, I even offered solutions but you do not want to hear them. All you can try and do, is invoke some weird sort fo patriotic duty to the site and you to guilt them into buying.

Folks, honestly, I am sure many of you can get value out of advertising here. I would only ask that you ignore the screed, both mine and pundit's, and make up your own mind. Consider the return on your investment, whether banner ads will make that much more difference than posting with a link in your sig, and where to distribute your ad budget. Small businesses must be critical and examine any place they spend there money. Heck, any business does but it goes double for small businesses.

Regarding impressions: the number of impressions that you usually buy is never what you really get. In addition to displaying banners for regular visitors to a forum, they are also displayed to bots and other spiders, wasting your impressions. This waste is greatly reduced here thanks to special proprietary code that blocks access by a large number of bots/spiders, even those that ignore the normal robots.txt protocol. So, in fact, you are getting considerably fewer wasted impressions (hence, more useful impressions statistically) with the banners on this site compared to other sites like rpg.net. In other words, 25k impressions on a site like rpg.net dwindles down to nothing with all the bots.

Regarding banners: there are two primary intentions for displaying banner ads. The first is to get direct-clicks to convert a visitor into a paying customer. This is hard to do. Some may be so swept away with the product that they purchase it instantly, while others may want to buy it, but wait until they get paid or have some extra money. The second is brand awareness. Just because someone does not click on the banner, does not mean that he is not aware of it. Should he take a sudden interest in the genre you are pushing, he could remember the banner and seek out your site. Or he could pass the info on to a friend. This application of banner is more long-term, but if you are in it for the long haul, it can really pay off. Hence, if you spend more money to advertise with a banner than what you make from direct clicks of a banner, it could still net you more money in the long term.

I make no money or otherwise profit from these banners, so it doesn't affect me one way or the other if anyone pays for banners. I maintain that I believe it to be a fair price. If you don't think so, that's your choice.
