Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

New subforum?

Would it benefit the site to have a subforum in the Off Topic section dedicated solely to other forums? We get a lot of people talking about rpg.net, sjgames, the forge, and others. I think it detracts from talking about things that really matter*, and giving it its own home might help alleviate that some.

I agree with James.

Gay mountain lions are important.

On the sub-forum thing, I'm ambivalent.

It doesn't detract from anything at all since the off-topic forum is a totally unimportant.

But even more to the point, it is unnecessary currently because threads on the first page currently have last responses that go as far as January 23rd. Do we really need to create sub-forums for barely frequented sections?

In short, all of the off-topic stuff can be handled by the current forum setup. There's just not enough traffic to warrant fragmentation.

I think there are two many forums as it is.  We could fold Pundit's own forum and the Amber forum into Off Topic and Roleplaying respectively and have a much tighter board.

So I vote no.

I'm in the No camp too.
I saw what happened at WebRPG / RPGHost which has a billion sub-forae and about a dozen posters. There are forums that go years between posts.
I also see RPG net with its One Forum To Hold Them All policy, which means anything interesting gets buried in a twenty page thread
between the time you open the Reply window and hit the Submit button.

IMO, RPGnet isnt big enough yet to demand more forums.

Sorry folks, I guess I should have used more smileys. This is a joke.

Yeah, but still a worthwhile discussion :)

Conceptually, off-topic topics should be placed in successively more specific subfora in an infinite regression that renders every topic other than roleplaying absurd.

I don't plan to add any new fora anytime soon. Odds are that, if anything, I'll be more likely to close some Fora down if they have too limited a use.
