SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hey, mods, I have what could be a valuable idea....

Here's where I talked about it over at the "Horror in gaming" thread:

http://www.therpgsite.com/forums/showthread.php?p=31152#post31152

Let me know what you think. I'm up for it. mattormeg (at) gmail (dot) com.

Pasted:
Someone should start collecting and archiving these sorts of responses to "evergreen" topics of value to GMs. Not just this thread, but all threads that meet this criteria.

After a while, the thread could be closed, the posts edited down to the most valuable contributions, and then compiled into PDF documents with titles like:
"Thoughts on Horror in Roleplaying Games" from //www.TheRPGSite.com.

These could then be available for download as part of an RPGSITE learning library.

If one of the admins wants to bring me into the fold, I'd be happy to do this very thing. I'm a copywriter/proofreader/PR guy in real life, so it wouldn't be too much hassle.

Would anyone else be interested in this?

What would you need to be "brought into the fold"; Mattormeg? What exactly would you require from us that you aren't able to do yet?

Poor choice of words. ("brought into the fold").

Anyway, what I need from you is to be able to host those files once they're done.

I'm not sure how to go about doing that.

RPGPundit

I would have to confirm it with Gruff or Varaj to see if its possible, but shit, as far as I'm concerned if you go to the trouble of doing something like this, welcome aboard, and we'll find a place to put them!

If you don't have space (or if it easier) I could host the files on my site and give them their own page. I also have the ability to generate PDFs with bookmarks, TOC, and index.

Sojourner Judas

I don't know about PDF, but something like this wouldn't be hard to edit up and put into Drupal.

mattormeg

Great - I'll pick out a couple of likely threads, monitor them and then do the editing/conversion thing. Might take a few weeks before I have an initial product for you.

And I believe, Judas, that you are now able as our "Drupal admin" to do just that?

Hence the offer. I'd need some input on how you guys wanted it set up, but it's very feasable. I can even tree the posts as if they were in response to each other, as subpages of the same book. It really depends on how you want it done.
