Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

All forums 'drift'.

That is, as their content piles up, that content attracts others, like-minded, who post more of the same kinds of content.  Simple, right?

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, and while moderating at RPGnet a few months back, I came up with a thought - something I tried out a couple of different minor ways there (the Actual play Index, the Big List of Cool Ideas in the LARP subforum), and I'm still thinking about and trying to refine.

Resource lists.

That is, there are questions that keep coming up on forum after forum relating to RPGs.  Where can I get some free RPGs?  Are there any good webcomics related to gaming?  What's the website for company X?

JimBob has a pretty great one, but it's a little schizophenic.

Say that there was an sticky at the top of the main forum labelled "The List of Resource Lists".

So, I might start a thread called "Game Company Websites", with a few websites and a little note for each.  When anyone finds one, they can toss it onto that thread.  And if you're wondering "do we have a list of X", you check the list of lists - having that meta-list avoids the giant "glob of stickies" that a lot of forums get at the top.

Thoughts?

A thread whose only post is the OED's definition of "fun?"

Levi, stop reading my mind! :)

Seriously, I like the idea a lot.

EDIT: Also, links to the community projects that Judas started.

That's a really good idea, Levi.  I hope it comes to something!

Dr Rotwang!

I dig it.  There needs to be a thread about The Best Superhero Game, too.  Feels weird not to have one every five goddamn minutes.

Levi, I think you are totally on to something here.

Rotwang: I'm flipping over to the main RPG forum in a minute.  If there isn't a 'Best Supers Game?' thread already in progress when I arrive HEADS WILL ROLL!

Well, not really.

This idea is very cool.  It reminds me of some meta-resource thread compilations that I've found at Wizards' site.  Stuff like this.
