This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'll take the loss of the green highlight and the auto-preview in exchange for faster load times!
I didn't notice the auto-preview was gone.  Yeah, let's keep it that way.

I am continuing to have what I consider excessive load times, which I seem to only experience with this site. (To the best of my knowledge.) I have recently had my machine rebuilt, and I am using a superfast connection, with Firefox (To my knowledge the latest version); I've also set my settings so I no longer have user's avatars displayed, and I'm about to get rid of signatures as well.

I'm not sure if anything else would be helpful here, or if anyone else is experiencing this same problem.

No problem here other than database query slowness.

Groovy.  I've probably asked before, I was just curious how well PostGres worked.

Are these actions in part why I get "Search is Disabled?", I've not experienced significant load times AT ALL. But search is integral to my RPG forum experience because it is tied to "see new posts" function of such forums.

I'm hoping that the search will not stay disabled for very long.  Its really one of those things that I would rather the site be a bit slower and still have.  The only way I'd be ok with it being gone permanently would be if the alternative would mean the site would essentially be inoperable.

From what I understood, Brett was mostly just checking to see if it would help in the face of some unexpected levels of activity.

Alright, cool.

After I posted this, I saw "temporarily disabled" message. I didn't see it BEFORE I posted or I'd have waited. Ah well.

I've been having strangeness myself - I'm using Chrome, and for some reason the main page of a forum ( say, the electronic games page) will sit and load forever, but individual threads ( like this one) finish loading.

Right now, it seems to be stuck on something called therpgsite.dreamhosters.com

Looks like GoDaddy uses them for DNS.

Please do not post registration information like that.

All I wanted to know is why shewolf is using therpgsite.dreamhosters.com instead of http://www.therpgsite.com.

Uhhh...  Anyone can get that through a DNS lookup and an MX lookup.  It's public information.

EDIT:  And technically, it's not even your registration information.  It's GoDaddy's.  My email doesn't come from Yahoo.com, for instance, it goes through a.mx.mail.yahoo.com, b.mx.mail.yahoo.com ... g.mx.mail.yahoo.com.  I am not the Hacker Supreme nor do I have access to IANA's database.  It's out there on the servers, for all to see.

So is a phone number, but you don't want that broadcast about, do you? Most of the spam and hack attacks are due to information that is carelessly posted on web sites.
