SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A question about the update

Brett, thanks for putting in the work to keep the site afloat.

In the forum pages, all thread titles appear truncated, cut short at a given length. I don't get to read the whole title. Or is it just me? Either way, can it be fixed?

arminius

I notice the truncated titles only when I use the "new posts" button.

brettmb

I'm not seeing that. Can you post a screenshot?

arminius

Turns out I'm not seeing it in my desktop browser but it does happen in Safari on iPhone (iOS 9.x). Hopefully this is legible (2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th subject lines all truncated). Not sure why upload gives me such a low-res picture.

Presumably, it's because of the limited screen size on a phone. You can try switching to the mobile theme (menu at bottom of page).

arminius

Thanks, titles aren't truncated in the mobile theme. I'll give that a try.

THANK YOU BRETT!!!

Or even a totally new color scheme distinct from the other forums might be cool too.

Quote from: brettmb;894530For subscribed threads, click My Pofile at the top of the page and then look for the subscriptions tab (at least I think that's what you want).
No that's not it.

Yeah that is what I wanted to see. Thanks. Now how can I add that link to my default screen?

The previous menu choice and the link that Asen provided makes it easier to find threads that you were subscribed to that had something new. Especially if the post was from a day or more ago. It was also nice in that if you unsubscribed, those threads no longer appeared even if you had posted in the thread. This feature helped me immensely when I decided to opt out of Pungency threads including the ones I had previously posted in.

I see vertical truncation each row in New Posts. This is using Firefox as the browser on my PC.

P.S.  Brett, thanks for all your effort and for taking the time to respond.

Quote from: brettmb;894531Looks like I got the old thread format back, with user info on left side.

Brett, the forum kicks me out after a while. It poses quite a problem for me - producing a few sentences in English means constant switch between this place and various online translators. I'd be glad if the session's length, inactivity counter or whatever variable governs this would be longer.

Thank you, and keep up the good work.

I see. My browser erases cookies per each restart and that log-off happens each day, but I'll give it a try. :)

If it erases cookies each time, you'll never stayed logged in.

It erases cookies PER EACH RESTART of the browser and it's ok, I have no problem with manual logging in. Unfortunately tRPGsite kicks me out during my session, when I'm already logged in.

In fact, it did only a few moments ago - I was attempting to start a new thread and ka-blooey!

I erased cookies like I have been told to earlier.

Which browser and operating system are you using?

brettmb

If you do not check remember me, the system logs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity. I have increased that to 30 minutes, so see if it still happens.
