Title: 500 Server Errors
Post by: James McMurray on June 23, 2008, 09:51:02 AM
I keep getting 500 errors when replying to threads. The posts go through ok, so it might just be random internet hiccups associated with the move.

I'll reply to this to let you know if I also got it when creating a new thread.

I've noticed the site is running more slowly since the switch to the new server / forum.  Maybe there's some cacheing that needs to be tweaked?  Or maybe some spiders / spambots that need to be told to piss off? :)

Nope, didn't get the error for a new thread, just replies.

This is the first time i've been able to get the site for about 4 hours.

Edit: and 500 server errors is coming up.

I have to ask, who is hosting the server? They need to get on the stick and look into this. Blech! Slow downs are my biggest issue. Pages will hang waiting for a response from the server. It seems worse when I am logged in...mostly.

Whenst clicking on a "last post" while logged out:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@therpgsite.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It's being worked on. Please stop posting unless you have something new to report.

Fast and friendly so far. Which is good, because rpg.net was also having issues, and Enworld wasn't moving fast enough to keep me entertained. :)

rpg.net is running slower then dogshit today.  It's almost unusable.

It's possible that the two incidents are connected.

Just got one when posting a comment in the Taser thread.

http://www.therpgsite.com/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=10939

It gave the error, I reloaded, and my comment was posted (but not double-posted)

I haven't gotten any errors, per se, but the site's been hella slow most of the day, and damn near every post I make I get a message either reminding me I can only post once every 30 seconds, or just now, a message saying my post of a duplicate of one already posted, which is rather odd considering that in all those scenarios I'd only posted and pressed the submit button once.  They've all gone through anyway, and I haven't had any double posts, but it does seem as if something might be screwy with the code for avoiding dupe posts.

Seems to be some server problems. Personally, I haven't had any issues since around noon.

Tons of 500 errors this morning.  Posting replies, What's New, This Thread... etc.

Very slow too...

I got two earlier today (~9:45am) when going from advanced search results to the posts I wanted to dig up.  I'm not at that machine right now, so I don't have handy URLs.

Funny(?) side note: I opened this thread and then started doing something else. When I started to come back I noticed the "500 Server Error..." window title on my task bar and thought "awe crap! Not again." :)

FYI, I know about the 500 errors going on right now. That's me trying to change some settings.
