since clash broke the ice on this, let's test the waters. move all 4e threads to one place? or don't bother?
-
They're about the most entertaining thing here at the moment.
-
I say we move all non-4E stuff to another place...
Regards,
David R
-
I second David R's motion.
-
Leave it.
-
Yes. Leave it.
There's enough "thread-based segregation" going on all over gaming message boards these days as it is.
-
Leave it.
-
I already said it was a stupid idea and withdrew my suggestion.

Sorry, buddy. I didn't see that. I'm a bit of a jerk, of the knee variety. :)

It's not like Pundit will ever do this (and with good reason), so the poll has no point at all.
-
hey, just curious as to folks' opinion. ergo the inclusion of the last option, as well.
-
Too much micro-management.

If we were in a situation where 4E speculation was crowding out all of the other discussion on the forums, then I might suggest that 4E threads should go to a "4E pre-release speculation" forum until 4E is published (at which point it can sink or swim like any other game, but at least the discussions won't be based on WotC teasers, internet rumours and guesswork).
However, even a cursory glance at the topic list in each forum shows that discussion of other games is perfectly alive and well. The majority of active threads in each subforum are non-4E. The majority of active inflammatory threads are about 4E, but then that's only to be expected.
If it gets to a point where I go into the "Role-Playing Games" forum and I have to look carefully to find a non-4E thread, I'd be worried, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen.

This has already happened a couple of times when I browse.
So the choice is either :
"Move it!":

OR
"Leave it ":

...okay then , I've voted now.

Lord, Zach! I wasn't replying to you! I was just stating my current position, so folks would know what I think. I opened the question, yes, but reconsidered it and came to the opposite conclusion in a short time. That's all. :D

Why was there no option for Move them all to "Electronic Games and Other Games"? Clearly this invalidates the entire poll, and another poll should be created right away.
:)
-
Move them to the "Sett's Having a Seizure Again" subforum and be done with it.
:pundit:

While I'm not a moderator (and so wouldn't close a thread), I do think that this thread is in the wrong forum: this is about the operation of the site itself rather than RPGs, so I've taken the liberty of moving this thread to the Help Desk.
As for whether D&D 4e needs its own forum, I think not. The way that the forum works is that topics people are interested in discussing stay on the front page. It's self-balancing: things people care about the most get the most screen time.

Isn't that unfair to the topics that nobody gives a rat's ass about? ;)
