Herr S., can you briefly summarize the issues for those of us who aren't fluent in German and/or aren't GroFaFo members and/or tried and failed to grasp the discursive fault lines by reading your blog?

I´ll try to make it short and easy, staccato-style.

Person A comes to German Forum.
Speaks about "big project"
"Big Project" needs coordinator.
Thread was opened to enable "application" for coordinator status in
"Big Project"
Nobody knew what the Big Project was supposed to be.
Forum regulars started to ask questions
They got either no, or snappy answers "Either you come over and find out, or you are not worthy of the project!"
They started talking back, and started to inquire more deeply
one of the moderators deleted the whole thread, and accused every regular of trolling
Levi-look-alike User opens thread wherein he demands an explanation
gets dogpiled upon by board owner
I open up a general RPG board on my forum, making it clear everyone is invited, to create a haven until all moderation on german boards has ceased to the point of spam-removal
(lots of infighting within the modclique, threads and the threads about the threads are closed, moved, deleted and reinstated)
(more confusion and infighting, board owner dogpiles upon other people)
at least one/several users on Big German Board delete their accounts
Someone from the modclique apologizes to the Levi-look-alike user, and reinstates the complaint thread. He also proposes that "no one should talk about this incident"

Well, sorta.
Basically just to open up one little venue for non-moderated discourse of any RPG related kind.

But it´s really just opening a venue, a small haven, I´m not pushing it with posts like I did when theRPGsite was punditified.

@Stuart: I do think it´s ridicolous stuff. That´s why it´s so embarassing that there needs to be any moderation about this nonsense.

But the board owner and some of his mod cronies are really and actually believing in themselves being a small troupe of valiant defenders agains forum-barbarism.

He actually threatened to CEASE moderation and only fight some spam bots!

Most people just said: "Go ahead! Great idea!"

Settembrini got it right. Actually, it was clear that The Big Project(TM) should be a massive play-by-forum game (though the job description was more than nebulous), and it were just two threads in reaction to the thread deletion action, but the main course of things is right.

As the GroFaFo is community first and useful place of discourse second (at best), this is never going to happen. Sadly.
