When I started looking for terms, I touched on Talent. I was a little unclear on partof your explanation. There aren't Talents for each skill, right?  I mean, I assume that there are a specific number of Talents, and many skills are based on a single Talent? I'm also interested in the Skill Tree, as that was something I was kicking around.

You know, this again reminds me of Aquelarre.  Each skill has a related stat, and that stat determines your starting skill level and your max.  I think they use 5% x stat as the max, as I said upthread, and I don't have the book handy at the moment, but I think the base level is stat x1% or stat x2% depending on whether or not it's one of the skills related to your profession or background.
Pretty simple implementation.  What did you have in mind mechanics-wise?

Right.  Each of the five mental attributes - will, intuition, reason, presence and essence - govern the Talent for a given number of skills.  The numbers are pretty evenly distributed for each mental attribute for the sake of game balance, so having an exceptional score in a single mental attribute results in a higher Talent for somewhere between five and seven skills.

Yeah - there are anywhere from two to five specialties associated with each skill, each with various mechanical (and social!) advantages, so the range of differentiation and character, uh, craft-a-bility is pretty dang wide.
