This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The foundations of my rpg-projects.

I have thought of reworking the foundations of my intended rpgs over quite some time now.
The reason is simple to explain:
 I have a lot of ideas, and some fit together better than others.
I also like a lot of different genres, and some of those do not work together at all, unless one goes anachronistic and/or TORG (or MWWG for that matter) or similar on the game world.

However, I of course like the concept of TORG, Rifts, and similar.
(Not MWWG as much, because you can't play as a sultry Male in that game :teehee: )

And yes, there are something I picked up at the Forge, but the idea is probably older than that:
That the system may support a certain setting and/or mood if handled right, or may break them if handled too wrong.

So i'll be trying to pair things up here.
Comments and suggestions are utmost welcome, even if I do not follow them, as any suggestions may help me focus.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.
;)

The selection of things I like to include in an rpg or several:

* Furries/Anthro Animals/Human-animal hybridizations
These are a practical necessity, as i'm both a Furry-Fan and one of those weird Therianthropes myself.
* Magic
(No extremely powerful spells, unless they were prepared well in advance, so no real Meteor Storm or such.)
* Mecha
Think Bubblegum Crisis and RockMan/Megaman, rather than Evangelion or Super Sentai (or Power Rangers).
Human-sized Transformers may work, too.
* Special Powers
(Again, no extremely powerful ones, so no Superman - characters, and perhaps not even any X-men.)
* Mythical gone mundane
Essentially ordinary humans(?) that finds themselves having abilities and perhaps even turning into mythical beings such as Vampires, Faeries, Demos or even Dragons.
* Street Fighter-like moves
.... Some moves may not be as Street-fighter-like upon inclusion though, as people in reality just don't fight that way.
(Nor do they go into a massive dogpile as in some other games.)
* Mythical Divinities
Those would be a mix of actual mythical Divinities and made-up ones, and they would also mainly be there to require certain moral codes or other things of their Followers(Dedicated people) or Callers(summoners, people that pray), and in return supply abilities, powers or just info.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

Settings I like:

* Pulp/Noir
* Super-hero
* Alternate "Modern"
* War-like
* Cyberpunk/Shadowrun
* Steampunk
(My definition that is Punk and downtrodden, and not the clean and freethinking DIY that has become called "Steampunk".)
* Victorian (I think it is)
* Weird West
* Fantasy

Most or even all of these, I cannot handle "raw", but need to mix them up a bit for me to be interested in them.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

Just go write it man. Enjoy the writing. Rewrite what doesn't work. But jus to write.

Crom's hairy nutsack, dude, just write the fucking thing.

Make up some shit you think will be fun.
Try it out.
If not fun, throw it out and make up some other shit you think will be fun.
Repeat until fun.
Then write it down.

All else is wankery.
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.

Alternately start with a small project and build on it.  Take it from someone who builds massive, expansive, integrated projects that grow exponentially as they evolve.

Start with something small and see where it takes you.  Even the smallest projects have a way of growing beyond your initial intentions.

At all costs avoid Crom's hairy nutsack or wanking to your game mechanics.

Religious Relic

Crom's Hairy Nutsack is a powerful magical relic. It will function as a +3 morningstar for anyone capable of wielding such a weapon. In the hands of a cleric of Crom the true powers of the relic can be utilized.

Thank you.
It isn't wankery though, it is rampant mixes of writers block, frequently secondguessing myself, and possibly some undefined phobia that tends to mess up my working on it.
The reason why I like suggestions (and questions), is because they somehow helps me bypass those problems.

As for the Relic, it probably don't exist in any of my intended gameworlds ...
^_^

Games that I am considering as part of the project:

Alternate Modern:
* Ferals
* Animakin
* Origo (Might go into a sci-fi section instead, a bit shadowrun-like.)
* Streed Rpg (basic rules)
* Sentai Dolls (Anime-influenced superheroes, may be naughty, but i'll avoid underage.)
* Gothire (People turned into "lite" versions of Vampires, Undead, Demons and such).
* Neo-Fae(Preliminary name, like Gothire but Elves, Goblins, and variations thereof instead.)

Alterna Pulp:
* Eerie (CoC-like)
* Adventuria (Indiana Jones and such)
* CyberCross (During WWII, the Allied and remaining Axis - forces had to cooperate against Cults and Demons, and this game handles the result.)

Dark Enlighthment Era:
*Alleyways (Fantasypunk, servants in the City, some Steampunk).
* Armada(Pirates of the Caribbean, + extra magic and Furries).
* Silver Slingers (Weird West(Deadlands) with added furries).
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

I wish it was just excuses.
And I am writing, when I can, this is what I currently can write (see above) in an attempt of focussing enough.

... Oh, and threats, even funny ones, do not work.
:p
Others have tried.

Some advice I have for game writers.

Thank you.
It was helpful, even if I had heard some of it before.

Although, i'm currently is choosing between two Concepts:
* Ferals, which I have already done a lot on, partially because it has among the least of added rules for individual abilities and such.
and
* Sentai Dolls, because it allows for a certain kind of naughtiness that I admittedly like.

However, both seemingly have inherent problem, Ferals with that I have frequently gotten the vision about what it is to include or not muddled up several times with similar but different versions of it.
I seem to keep secondguessing what I should add or not.

Sentai Dolls, on the other hand, there I have yet to make special abilities and fighting moves that fits and works.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.
