This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The Elohi RPG Setting
« on: September 23, 2008, 03:26:01 PM »
Over the past 2 years I have been researching and writing an ambitious RPG setting, one based on Native Americans circa the year 1200 AD. I am happy to say the game is finished and ready for the masses. It is designed using my own rules set, similar in some ways to True 20 and D20, simplified and streamlined. It features a variety of classes, races, spells, magic items and so on... in other words, it is a full RPG setting and rules set all in one 171-page document. It's heavy on "crunch" and light on "fluff."

If you want a PDF copy, please email me at moogspaceport@gmail.com. While you can certainly tell me here that you want a copy, I ask that you please email me as well, as that will be the medium through which I can send it to you. The book is provided free of charge, however, donations are welcome.

Why isn't this put up somewhere for direct download? It would certainly save you some hassle.
Depending on how big the PDF is, I might host it for you.

I'll send a mail later when things here have become less busy... Native Americans are IMHO an underexploited culture in gaming (except maybe in Shadowrun and Deadlands), so I'm eager to see what others have taken and extrapolated as game-ready bits from it.

Give us a 1 page brief if you would. I'm curious, but I want to know more about it before I start downloading things.

Here is a link to the blog I posted about it here a couple years ago.

Essentially it is a game set in North America circa 1200 AD, and can be played with or without fantasy/supernatural elements.

That is an impressive document. Although the system is heavily D20 based (in a D&D like way.) So far it seems playable. I'm still reading though.

171 pages? Dude, through it up on a .pdf selling site and make some money. 'Information wants to be free' sounds nice, but it doesn't keep you in kibbles and bedsheets.

Also, people saying that to me sound a lot like they're saying 'I want free stuff and you look like a sucker'. :D (Well, ok, not so much, but they can sound like that)

I like the setting idea; survivalist without being Yet Another Apocalypse Setting. Is it purely historical or are there mythological elements?
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

This is a neat, neat project, and very close to my heart.  I was initially a bit baffled by the decision to make a system similar to d20 or True20 without just using the SRD, but I can understand it for personal reasons.

I haven't had a chance to read through Elohi in any detail, but I like the way that the people of Elohi come across in pictures and text as being exotic, but not alien.
