Cool, for some reason I got the impression that you could lose multiple rounds of combat, which seemed excessive to me.  If you only lose one round of combat actions, then it seems fair thus far.  

Now as I understand it, the number of Shock ticks depend on the relative success of the one who passed the combat test.  Can the degree of success ever become egregious?  Is possible for someone to fail their combat test and their opponent to get a degree of success that would immediately cycle his opponents Shock and/or Wound dice?  Or, in an extreme situation, cycle both the opponents Shock and Wound dice at the same time?

Yes, that's what I meant; what happens when your Wound die is used up?  Maybe the character is unconscious and dying first before immediately dying.  This way they could have a chance to stabilize themselves with some kind of roll (Health, Body, Endurance, etc.), and if they don't stabilize in a certain amount of time, say numbers of round equal to their Shock or Wound die, then they would perish.
