This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Strange tales of songling

Working on a new game that is a variation of the Ogre Gate system (simpler, more focused on monster-of-the-week style horror). Been running it with my Saturday and Tuesday gaming groups (Sunday is still Ogre Gate, as is my every other Saturday game).

Blogged a little about the idea here: http://thebedrockblog.blogspot.com/2017/09/designing-strange-tales-of-songling.html

Have a character sheet, will probably post that in the coming days.

Also, this is relevant: http://thebedrockblog.blogspot.com/2017/09/gaming-strange-tales-table-of-contents.html

Strange Tales is nearly ready for layout (just finished the edits and doing some last minute reviews). Joel Clark was kind enough to run a playtest to check the document structure one more before I send it off. Here is the video: https://youtu.be/BzhWcQMWlAc

It is finally done. It is out in PDF here (and I should have it out in paperback in the next month or so): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/300445/Strange-Tales-of-Songling

Bought this last night! This looks great. I read through the first couple of chapters. I love the character classes!

I will try to browbeat some friends into playing this. :D As it happens I just read Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio recently, so this is a total Baader-Meinhof for me, too.

BTW, I noticed in my PDF reader that the TOC seemed not to render Chapter 2 correctly. I don't know if it was just my reader or not, thought I'd mention it though.

Thanks! I am glad you like it so far. I just uploaded a new version of the PDF with the Chapter Two TOC fixed
