This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A (Hopefully) Simple Game

Bloody Stupid Johnson

I doubt there'd be a problem with using just schools of magic. Looks good anyway though, I think.

Here's a link to the character sheet and PDF for the game. Final thoughts?

Edit: I fixed the table on the main document to reflect the changes made in this thread.

Happy playing or playtesting...

Final nitpicks, just to be annoying...
-impedments should be Impediments, I think.
-ageless (xinfinity lifespan) and 'live long and prosper'(x2 lifespan) are both improvements (i.e. same cost)
'Disfigured': "appearance trait is automatically 0" ?
Soak roll; has the thing where success w/ cost gives nagging injury and failure doesn't.

But kudos, looking good.

Just looked at this. Not bad at all.  I might tinker with it this week end.

Fixed.

Quote-ageless (xinfinity lifespan) and 'live long and prosper'(x2 lifespan) are both improvements (i.e. same cost)

Nixed "Ageless".

Quote'Disfigured': "appearance trait is automatically 0" ?

That's from a previous build. Changed to "-2 to any social roll where appearance is important".

QuoteSoak roll; has the thing where success w/ cost gives nagging injury and failure doesn't.

Fixed the Combat/Soak.

Thanks. I've attached the updated file and if anyone finds anymore goofs, feel free to point them out.

As an aside, I ran across an idea for Magic that I thought was kind of cool. Basically every spell is a phrase that may only have one verb, one noun and unlimited adjectives.

So for this game, what you could use is based off the POWER rating:
Terrible (0) - Can't cast spells.
Bad (1) - Can only use a verb; can only target themselves of an item they're holding.
Okay (2) - One verb, one noun, no adjectives.
Good (3) - One verb, one noun, one adjective.
Great (4) - Two verbs, one noun, any adjectives.
Incredible (5) - Two verbs, two nouns, any adjectives.

Then roll POWER and see how well it works.

I just can't leave things alone. :p

If you had a chance to check it out, how went it? I'd be curious to see how or if it works since I haven't had a chance to play-test it yet.
