This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Looking to Acquire Game System for New PC Game
« on: December 27, 2020, 08:37:52 PM »
We recently acquired the rights to an old PC RPG game [Legends of Valour] that we are in the process of remastering and releasing. The game lacks unfortunately any real type of gaming system besides for a very rudimentary one and as such we need to implement one. We have been discussing options and have considered licensing one of the more popular game systems [If possible] versus designing one versus buying one. They all have their pluses and minuses. We are mainly looking for the mechanics and rules for a gaming system, not a story world or setting. We already have thoughts about the game world and history.

I would very much like to discuss this with any one that has a gaming system they would be willing to sell out right to us. Please don't hesitate to contact me at Starwander@Comcast.net.

Is there any details about the game, or what type of rules system you need? Plenty of systems are part of the Open Gaming License, but they all vary on rules, classes, magic systems, etc. Knowing more would help.

We don't have an exact details about that currently. We have debated a lot about the right system and we are split on the matter and as such were open to suggestions. We do know that it is an older RPG and keeping something in line with this makes sense. Were more in favor of traditional classes as such, something you would find in 2nd and 3rd edition D&D for instance. We have talked about a GURPS like system vs. Monte Cook Arcana Evolved like rules vs. older school D&D rules. The game right now doesn't really have classes and has guilds you can join [Warriors, Clerics and Magicians] You can learn rudimentary skills in each.

Contact Alexander Macris over at www.Autarch.co

He is the creator of Adventuerer, Conqueror, King. Its a D&D clone but has a skill system, guild rules, and a lot of extra stuff. May work for you. He is also a really nice guy in general. His line of books improves the old Basic D&D game with a lot of additional stuff for characters to do. Its a simple system.

Hope this helps.
