SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Just a note: it seems Blogger automatically enabled Google+ comments when I created my blog, and this was preventing many people from being able to comment.

I've therefore disabled the Google+ comments option, and it should now be possible to comment on the blog directly, without being prompted to create a Google+ profile.

Hello to both of  my readers. ;)

I apologize for the sudden drop off in activity.  It was due to family medical issues that required me to travel and provide 24/7 care to a close family member.  They've mostly recovered now, and I am back at home, so everything's OK.

I'm hard at work updating the Herbalism rules, and hope to have them done by mid-May.  I'll also be having some smaller tidbits in the meantime, including new Featured Creatures and new Niches for different campaign styles.

Thanks to all of my readers for the continued support.  I hope to keep growing this project.

What I love about this project is you seem to have taken something that you are personally passionate about, something one might not associate with gaming right away, and made it game able.

Thanks, Brendan!

Yeah, I am passionate about animals on several levels (academically, as an activist, as a rescuer, and as a long-time reader of animal fantasy fiction), though I am still surprised that there have been so few attempts at a comprehensive animal fantasy game, given the popularity of the sub-genre.  There have been games that focus on a single species or a small collection of species in a particular habitat, but to my knowledge, none that aspire to cover the whole of the animal kingdom and allow the broadest possible options for characters.

I'm hoping I'm not the only person who's been wanting a game like this, but even if I am, the project is rewarding to me on its own terms.
