This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Silverlion;669139There is also the option to handle one on one combats as save rolls (like the noncombat stuff.) In fact 5E mentions that such maneuvers are useable.

It was fairly common in the earlier solos to do that with fights vs. much larger opponents - one of the more common rooms in Deathtrap Equalizer has a giant which you can do your full combat roll to if you can pass a Luck save (IIRC), otherwise normal combat. I think Arena of Khazan has a few monsters that worked similarly too (the three-eyed ogre?).

Derailing myself now but random other question: does anyone know how Chainmail worked, I believe that may've worked a bit like T&T? Powerful figures like Heroes or Superheroes rolling more d6s for attack??
