This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Age of Fable

Quote from: VectorSigma;417301Need some nomenclature advice.

As currently written, the KNIGHT is the pilot, the AEGIS is the mechsuit, the HEART is the necromantic power-core of the Aegis, and a REVENANT is a ghost trapped in the Heart.

That's fairly clear, right?

I'd consider changing 'Aegis' and 'Heart' to 'mechsuit' and 'power-core' respectively.

Remember the rule:

Teleleli The people, places, gods and monsters of the great city of Teleleli and the islands around.
Age of Fable \'Online gamebook\', in the style of Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf and Fabled Lands.
Tables for Fables Random charts for any fantasy RPG rules.
Fantasy Adventure Ideas Generator
Cyberpunk/fantasy/pulp/space opera/superhero/western Plot Generator.
Cute Board Heroes Paper \'miniatures\'.
Map Generator

I'm familiar with that rule, but, um, 'aegis' and 'heart' are both, y'know, regular words with known meanings and obvious connotations.  Especially the second one.  Surely you wouldn't advocate changing 'knight' to 'fightin' dude'?  Did you go through all your D&D books and pencil 'dark elf' over every occurrence of 'drow'?  :)

In all seriousness, I get what you're saying AoF, I just don't think these particular words are egregious examples of the 'made-up word' trend.  I welcome other opinions though!
Wampus Country - Whimsical tales on the fantasy frontier

"Describing Erik Jensen\'s Wampus Country setting is difficult"  -- Grognardia

"Well worth reading."  -- Steve Winter

"...seriously nifty stuff..." -- Bruce Baugh

"[Erik is] the Carrot-Top of role-playing games." -- Jared Sorensen, who probably meant it as an insult, but screw that guy.

"Next con I\'m playing in Wampus."  -- Harley Stroh

Nicephorus

To be based on bad SF anime, it needs to have a small handful new terms and theories that are vary between almost cool and dumb.  Not everywhere like the annoying language in Planescape, but enough to remind you that this isn't realistic action.

At least the knights aren't using evangelions powered by protoculture.

I think they work myself. They mean something--and they have an interesting and well thought out sort of self-reference connotation.

Quote from: VectorSigma;402564There's "fun to watch with friends because it's bad" bad,

At some point I realized there are so many good movies out there I've never seen, watching a bad movie for fun means I just wasted two hours I could have spent watching a good movie for fun.  Can't watch bad movies in "it's awesome in how bad it is" mode anymore.  :idunno:
