This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ok, time for me attempting to get my ideas and activity on working on my rpg project(s) again.

Now, the cityscape looks like a huge game that can easily get bloated.
This is on purpose.
See, This current state of the game is holding information that, once the info in some sections is enough, chunks of it is supposed to get removed or copied into other rpgs, centered on those other things, like Modern Faeries, Urban Horror/Supernatural, Action Flicks, Costumed Heroes(this might even be in 2 different, one with kick-ass types, and another more inspired by manga/anime/tokusatsu), and so on.

Here is a link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ksTxe8n5ng9jrqYdNVVSVPopPWx9Uyl2eKhL2Khnh8c/edit?usp=sharing

Now, i too often seem to require suggestions on what to work on next, so that is what i am asking for.
(It's just how i am, i often needs to be reminded to drink as well, and has gotten literal dehydration effects at times over the years.)
So, suggest ahead, if you like.

I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

26 views thus far, my own not counted.
Some actually did check the link, but left no comment, neither here nor there.
Not interesting enough.
Not D&D enough to warrant any comment?
Or most are just busy working on their own projects.
So am i.

At the moment, i've been trying to clean up the document on google docs, because i know it is a mess, and it was in a somewhat worse mess than i actually thought, as the pages get a bit skewed each time i write more, unless i correct them afterwards, something that i not always think about doing.

The "can anyone be a GM?" - type thread gave me the idea to add an advisory section to it.
I'll see when i does, if i do.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

Ok, seriously.
I have no idea how to get the character creation part in order, i have been stuck on this point for at least more than a year now.
Making it "simpler" don't work, and there are so many really good systems that i literally keep hopping back and forth between what ideas to use.
"The best system"?
I don't know.
All i know is that i want it to be mainly points allocation-based, with possibly a very small amount of randomness.

Now, yes i'm salty, but will i get any suggestion or advice that works, or shall i just let this thread .... and perhaps even this site get buried among the other ones that were unhelpful?

I think you should settle on something that looks like the White Wolf character creation system, based on the feel I get from your setting/system. As you say, point based (like their dots business).

I went through and skimmed the whole thing, and it's very stream of consciousness, and a bit hard to process sometimes.  One part of that is that you're self-translating (I get that you're Swedish, and I admire your ability in English; I know that I wouldn't be able to function much at all in the only language I can speak besides English, which is Korean), but in part because there's a lot of jargon you use in-line that the reader has to process.  To simplify the creation process, I'd drop any jargon for a draft.  Make something that describes how to make standard people, then put back in the exotic things after.

Just my thoughts,

Thank you for responding.
I had kind of given up on getting a response, but that it took until now to respond was more due to the discouragement of not getting any before, as well as my problems to get things done in general, rather than me not noticing the response until later.

Yes, i have every intention of using a variant of WW's "dot allocation system", i see it as one of the best and fastest systems for character creation in the world.
It is specifics that too often has been bogging me down, like using "races" or not, and using "classes" or not, but more along the lines of Vampire's Clans or Werewolf's Tribe-Auspice-Breed differences, but with other ways of defining the characters.

Yes, it is very "stream of consciousness", i want it to get LESS "streamish", but that is another thing i seem to have some problems with, and something i would like to get help with, if possible.

As for the jargong, i am not sure  what is "jargong" and what is the actual words that is standard for rpgs and similar.

Also, i've tried to put up rules for making "standard humans", but too often i wind up getting BORED by doing it, and loses all direct feel for continuing.

In case you wonder:
Yes, others has pointed out that i might have autism or aspies (they seem to often have similar problems), but i haven't been thoroughly checked for that yet.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

Ok, I read through this:

I think the fail faster idea is very good advice.

I think striping it of unnecessary parts is also a good idea, but first you need to identify what is actually necessary.

You have a background here and you have a system; I am going to limit my comments to the system.

So the system goals as I understand them are:
Fast to create characters
So Fast to play it could even be used for miniature-based boardgames
Can support diverse characters such as humans, superheros, mutants, robots, elves, ect..

Now basically, that to me sounds like the same set of goals as Savage Worlds. So a question you might want to ask yourself is do you need a different system to Savage Worlds? If the answer to this is no, then develop the background with that in mind. If on the other hand the answer is yes, then look at what you believe to be the flaws in Savage Worlds and put them right in your own system. You may want to then repeat this process for a few more similar systems.

This process might not work for you, but if it does i think it might give you a bit more structure and make the document a bit more coherent.

I hope this helps, and good luck.
