Nutkinland: The RPG Site Charter

Nutkinland: The RPG Site Charter

By Pooka at Sun, 03/12/2006 - 2:10pm
So you want to climb up our tree and hang from its branches, eh? Good, good. There's just a few things you should know before you proceed. Like the best things in life, registration is free, None of our features will ever be restricted to community supporters, nor do we restrict them on the basis of postcount or reputation. If your messages are funny, informative, or interesting on any level, please post them. If your replies help contribute to our conversations in any fashion, then please post those too. That should be your only incentive.
Speak your mind here, without fear! Our administrators and moderators (also known as "Nutkins") aren't in the business of censoring what other people have to say. They will let you have total freedom to be yourself, but people who are consistently looking to start trouble while contributing nothing to the community will suffer the consequences. If you personally don't like a thread, then don't read it.
That means all posts at Nutkinland represent the viewpoints of the writers under free speech. Nutkinland's hosts strive to provide an entertaining and interactive medium, and are not responsible for the views of individual visitors. All messages express the views of the individual authors, each author accepts final responsibility for what he or she says, etcetera etcetera etcetera.
In return, show the Nutkins some respect. They're here to keep the forums safe and secure, and to the best of my knowledge none of them are getting paid for their hard work. Please do not feed, harass, or intentionally annoy the squirrels, and if they ask you to do something, do it because they may not ask you twice. You've heard of DM fiat? Well they drive a Fiat too.
Let's also give the games industry the respect it deserves. We're not here to laugh at the people who play RPGs, but we are here to laugh with them. Let EN World be Fox News. Let RPGnet be CNN. Let Gaming Report be some raw news feed. This is Nutkinland: The RPG Site, and we are The Daily Show. Let's make mischief for the gaming community with a satirical edge of sharpness. Pull that rod of deadly seriousness out of your portable hole, present your own opinions when you report the latest news, have fun when you write game reviews, and give us your own humorous take on the industry. That's what Nutkinland is all about.
This is an RPG site. It's not a pr0n site. It's certainly not an online vomitorium. If an image could get someone fired if they look at it from work, don't post it. Provide a link and clearly mark it as NWS (Not Work Safe). Likewise, if the image is upsetting or disturbing mark it as NMS (Not Mind Safe). When in doubt, presume everyone else works in a monastery and has a very weak stomach.
We realize that some gamers lack important social skills, but even if we explained each and every aspect of common sense and acceptable behavior there'd still be at least one rules lawyer either claiming something wasn't covered or trying to cleverly circumvent something that was. So if you want a Rule 0, here it is: mind your manners. That is all; use common sense, don't act like a jerk, keep our forums clean, and help prevent forest fires. If you don't like it here, you can leave or refuse to register an account. If you wear out your welcome, you will be struck with the +12 banhammer. It's just that simple.

I'd sign that one in a heartbeat , if I hadn't done so already.
A.k.a. : I wholeheartedly agree ; I visit this site for talking games , not trash.

We like this Charter. We feel that it will allow us to tell stories to people of all ages, not just children.

To me this is a very very good thing. I hope you never have to moderate that would mean people are behaving.
